If you thought Disneyland was fun… now there’s the Creationist Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, which presents a “walk through history”, albeit a short one. The $27 million dollar museum opened its doors to the world yesterday.

From their Website:

Designed by a former Universal Studios exhibit director, this state-of-the-art 60,000 square foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life.

A fully engaging, sensory experience for guests. Murals and realistic scenery, computer-generated visual effects, over fifty exotic animals, life-sized people and dinosaur animatronics, and a special-effects theater complete with misty sea breezes and rumbling seats. These are just some of the impressive exhibits that everyone in your family will enjoy.

Meanwhile, Defcon America, a Web site devoted to defending the American Constitution is waging a campaign against the museum’s purpose, which is to show how science supports creationism.

Here’s what Defcon is up against:

From Can creationists be scientists?, by Dr. Jason Lisle, Ph.D., astrophysics, AiG–USA speaker and researcher:

“…But is a belief in “particles-to-people” evolution really necessary to understand biology and other sciences? Is it even helpful? Are there any technological advances that have been made because of a belief in evolution?

“Although evolutionists interpret the evidence in light of their belief in evolution, science works perfectly well without any connection to evolution. Think about it this way: is a belief in molecules-to-man evolution necessary to understand how a computer works, how planets orbit the sun, how telescopes operate, or how plants and animals function? Has any biological or medical research benefited from a belief in evolution? …”
